Remember way back to 365 sketch #009? Well, this is what I did with it! Princess Mononoke was the very first Miyazaki movie I saw in theatres. My host sister waited with me in line forever so we could go see it when it opened in Japan, bless her.
The whole experience left a huge impression on me, and even today it remains one of my favorite Miyazaki movies of all time. Next to Totoro…and a few others. But I won’t get into that right now. It’s a slippery slope!
First up, some Portal fan art! I just finished playing it last week, with the help of Ron. We kind of went back and forth on who played and who watched. Here we have Chell, sitting on the weighted companion cube, eating some cake! Suck it, GlaDos!
I will probably get around to cleaning this up and making a print out of it, with color and everything. One of these days…..
Did you know this year is the year of the rabbit? Well…. now you do.
Yesterday, I went to visit my friend, Temris. She has two cats and a husband at her house, and by far the goofiest thing I have ever seen is her cat, Andy. The floofiest of floofy kitties!
These next three are part of a series, so I thought I ought to post them together. This is kind of a glimpse into how my brain works when I’m trying to think of a composition for an illustration. I like to think “out-loud” in my sketchbook, and try stuff out before I make a final decision.
008 and 009 are things I tried out but ended up not clicking with. 010 is what I think I’m going to go with for my final piece. I decided the fun of drawing San, from Princess Mononoke, wasn’t in drawing her with puppies, but instead drawing her with her wild, violent personality.
Yay, violence! As you can also see, I changed styles as well. I don’t know what it is about these semi-chibi things I’ve been doing lately, but I feel like I can open up more with poses when I’m doing them. Is that counter-intuitive, given their proportions?>.>;
Guys, I have been playing catch up! These next three entries are going to put me back up to speed on this whole drawing a day thing.
These four are… well… they are. You know, sometimes you’re drawing and things just pop into your head. If you don’t get it right away, 005 is a “ham” and cheese sandwich.X3
Go ahead, throw something at me. You know you want to!
