All The Small Things

Hello there!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated, but here I am now! I’ve been adding new work to my site all day, as I realized I’ve been doing so much, and then only posting it to Tumblr or Instagram…>.>; Or in some cases, such as with my past storyboarding gigs, not posting it anywhere!

So, you’ll notice that my Illustration page has now transitioned to Illustration/Storyboards, and it even includes actual storyboarding samples now. Jinkies! I’m also in the process of adding some of my favorite The Last Diplomat pages to the comics section, as well as updating my commissions and illustrations gallery.

If you’re an X Men fan, the original cover I did for X Men 100 is available on EBay right now!

Also, thanks a ton to all the fine folks who came by the Emily and the Strangers panel and signing on Sunday at SDCC! I was floored by all the wonderful support for Emily, and it was really great to meet you all. If you liked issue #1, issue #2 hits stores tomorrow, so be sure to look for it!

Wake Up And Kumoricon!

Today was Wake Up And Draw Day, celebrating Jack Kirby, and benefiting The Hero Initiative! Everyone involved was asked to wake up and draw one thing, so of course I thought of Wolverine! Of course, I missed the part where almost everyone was doing actual Jack Kirby characters this year… Hopefully no one is too insulted! v.v

It’s my understanding that you’ll be able to buy this at some point. I’ll keep you posted!

In other news, this weekend is Kumoricon! I’ll be there, tabling with some of my studiomates, and selling my usual things. Brand new for the show are a set of four prints of my interpretations of Homestuck characters! I am part of a blog that takes text descriptions of Homestuck characters, and then attempts to draw them based solely on how folks describe them to us in words. It’s been really fun, so check it out here if you’re curious!

Here’s my Karkat:

karkatAnyhow, I hope to see some of you at Kumoricon this weekend!

Walking Dead 100 Auction

Hello folks!

This is just an update to say that my Walking Dead #100 custom cover, which I did for Hero Initiative, is down to the last 24 hours on EBay!

If you want it, follow this link, and bid! The money you spend is used to help support comic book artists in need of financial assistance for things like medical bills. It’s very worth it!

Don’t Look Now, But…

The Hero Initiative was kind enough to let me do a special cover for The Walking Dead 100! I’m surrounded by a host of super talents on this one, and couldn’t be in better company!

You’ll be able to bid on these puppies starting today! I think they’re going up ten at a time, so I’ll let you all know when mine goes up. Check them all out here!

The Walking Dead

Well, hello there!

I haven’t been working on much that can be shared publicly as of late, but here is something I can finally show you all!

I got to do a special cover illustration for the 100th issue of The Walking Dead for the fine folks at The Hero Initiative. Check it out:

Monsters and Dames 2013

Hey! Long time, no see. I am happy to announce that my work will be featured in the 2013 edition of Monsters and Dames! The Monsters and Dames book is a fundraising book created each year by the folks at Emerald City Comic Con, and the proceeds go to children’s hospitals.

It’s my pleasure to once again create a piece for this fantastic book!

I was asked to do a piece for this year’s CBLDF art auction at San Diego Comic Con! I’m super excited that I can finally show off the piece. I had a ton of fun working on this, and I hope it can raise some sweet money.

EDIT: I’ve been told that in order to preserve a good relationship with Marvel, I’m not allowed to actually post the image of my art here. So instead, please click this link and check it out here!

Lost In Space

I did a piece for the IndieCade Holiday Party Art Show! It’s going to be auctioned off to support IndieCade.

Drawing on this card was a challenge, because the surface was slick and shiny. So all the cool effects-like stuff going on with this piece is just how my india ink naturally reacted to the paper. I also forced myself to use a lot of black. Of course… I blacked out some stuff on the figures before I realized I wanted to black in the background, so a few things got lost. Oh well!

Friendly Neighborhood Spider ‘Stache!

So, I drew this.

As some of you may be aware, Movember is upon us! I cannot grow a mustache, sadly, so instead, I am doing mustache art! This is my first of what I hope will be several pieces. It’s ink and watercolor on 500 Series Bristol!

It can be yours for all time with a $50 donation to Movember! Just follow this link to make your donation, and include the note “FARRIS SPIDER-MAN”!

All your dollars go to eradicate cancer, so you couldn’t feel better about getting this piece!

More info here, at Joe Keating’s site!
